Test Your Water Pressure
You can purchase a water pressure test gauge from your nearby local home improvement store. Before using it, make sure to turn off any systems that might be using water, such as the washing machine or dishwasher. Then attach the gauge to an outdoor hose spigot, turn it on and take note of the reading. If it is less than 60psi, then your water pressure is on the low side as normal pressure gives a reading between 60 and 75 psi.
Check the Basics: Water Meter, Shut-Off Valve or Regulator
If you’ve confirmed that the water pressure in your home is too low, then the next thing is to ensure that the water meter and the main shut-off valve are both fully open.
Check for Leaks
Damaged pipes allow water to slowly seep into your home, damaging walls, HVAC systems and ceilings and reducing overall water pressure. We can help you check for hidden leaks using our water meter. Again, you’ll need to turn off all the water in your home and then we’ll record the number on the meter. After about 30 minutes, we’ll check your meter again and if the meter reading has changed, then it means there’s a leak somewhere.
